Twitter for teachers I recognize that this tip is not for everyone, but while we are all isolated at home and missing our community, it might be the right time to expand your community albeit virtually. Why am I suggesting you get a Twitter account? Joining #teacher Twitter was an assignment in my graduate program and I have to say it has paid off. As a new teacher Twitter has helped me build Professional Learning Communities focused on Racial Justice and Mathematics. I have made connections with people all over the world, gotten questions answered in the middle of the night, and learned a lot from a diverse group of educators.

1/19 2021 - 1/22 Jan 2021 Text to Speech in Chrome for Students: This extension has been automatically installed on all student chromebooks! Once in use, any text in a chrome window can be read aloud. (online articles, docs, slides, etc.)
Shutdown your computer from time to time When was the last time you shut your computer down? A quick tip but an important one, be sure to manually shutdown your computer from time to time. Aim for at least once a week. This can help limit problems such as slow speeds or application crashes. Nearpod Add on for Google Slides If you’re new to nearpod and more comfortable with google slides, the nearpod add on may be for you. This allows you to create a slideshow as you normally would in google slides and insert nearpod activities. Note: The final product must be run by going through nearpod.com, not through slides
You can choose to create new presentations from scratch or add nearpod activities into your pre-existing slides.

11/30 Nov 2020 - 12/4 Nov 2020 Advanced Screen Sharing in Zoom Zoom’s advanced screen sharing ability allows you to customize what part of the screen you are sharing. Whatever area you select to share will show full screen for students. This is useful if you’d like to focus on a particular image/text/table/or graph. You can also use it to full screen a google presentation without going into presentation mode.

The To-do list in Google Classroom is a great resource for students to check the status of their assignments in each of their classes. It can document all conversations in a side window where students and teachers can go back to view. It’s great for giving students an opportunity to review oral instruction, in assigning HOWLS participation credit, and more! Using the comment bank to help streamline your comments in Google Classroom. You can give your students personalized feedback on any type of file in the Classroom grading tool. You can leave comments on student work and maintain a comment bank to store comments that you use most often.
Using Google Keep to help streamline your comments in Google Docs. If you are not grading in Google Classroom but have students work in Google Docs You can create several banks of common comments that you would make on student assignments in Google Keep to streamline your grading.
